Nvidia to Launch N1X, its First AI PC Chip, Targeting Windows PC Ecosystem, in Q4 2025

kyojuro Khamis, 16 Januari 2025

In a significant collaboration last year, NVIDIA partnered with MediaTek to develop an Arm architecture processor tailored for client PCs. The debut product, utilizing TSMC's 3nm process and CoWoS packaging, is anticipated for a grand unveiling at CES 2025. While NVIDIA is indeed slated to showcase products from this exciting partnership at CES 2025, the focus will be on a compact supercomputer named Project DIGITS, rather than AI PCs. This supercomputer is purpose-built for AI researchers, data analysts, and scientists.

Project DIGITS

According to reports from TomsHardware, NVIDIA plans to release its first System on Chip (SoC) designed for Windows on Arm devices by the end of this year. It is projected that a demonstration might occur at COMPUTEX 2025 in May, where details regarding the architecture and performance metrics will likely be revealed. This SoC is part of the N1 series, which further splits into the high-end N1X and the mid-range N1, similar to the Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus by Qualcomm. The inclusion of a Blackwell architecture GPU positions it as one of the most formidable SoCs available in the market.

Leading the lineup is the N1X, with NVIDIA projecting shipments of 3 million units by the fourth quarter of 2025, potentially increasing to 13 million units the following year. As a significant partner in this venture, MediaTek is poised to earn an estimated $2 billion, which would constitute approximately 8 percent of its revenue for the next year. The N1 model is expected to be launched concurrently with the N1X, although it won’t hit the market until 2026.

NVIDIA's strategic moves trace back to late 2023 or slightly earlier, as they strategize to penetrate the Windows PC market and directly challenge the dominance of Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm.
