Last month, Intel began offering customers samples of the Panther Lake processor, which is set to debut this year pending any changes. This processor utilizes the Intel 18A process for manufacturing its compute modules. It is anticipated that over 70% of Panther Lake's components will be produced using Intel's proprietary process.

Jay Kihn recently released specifications for the Panther Lake and Wildcat Lake processors, which are expected to be part of the Core Ultra 300 series for mobile devices later this year. Panther Lake will feature an oversized core version.

The P-Core of Panther Lake will employ Cougar Cove, promising higher IPC than the current Lion Cove. The E-Core will continue with Skymont, alongside new modules for both the SoC and GPU. Three different versions of Panther Lake will be released, each incorporating a 4-LP E-Core, 50 TOPS NPU arithmetic, core display with Xe3 architecture, and all will support four Thunderbolt 4 interfaces.

Here are the specifics of the three Panther Lake versions:

• PTL-H: This version features a 4+8+4 CPU configuration, 12 sets of Xe cores, 120 TOPS GPU arithmetic, provides 8 PCIe 4.0 and 4 PCIe 5.0 slots, and supports LPDDR5X memory.
• PTL-H: With a 4+8+4 CPU, it includes 4 Xe cores, 40 TOPS GPU, offers 8 PCIe 4.0 and 12 PCIe 5.0 slots, and supports both LPDDR5X and DDR5 memory.
• PTL-H: This variant has a 4+0+4 CPU configuration, 4 groups of Xe cores, 40 TOPS GPU arithmetic, provides 8 PCIe 4.0 and 4 PCIe 5.0 slots, and also supports LPDDR5X and DDR5 memory.

Information about Wildcat Lake has also been provided. It has a 2+0+4 core configuration with two Xe cores, an overall arithmetic capability of just 40 TOPS (4+18+18), offers 6 PCIe 4.0 lanes, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and supports LPDDR5X and DDR5 memory, positioning it as a new low-power processor with even lower specifications than Lunar Lake.
