AMD's upcoming release of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, equipped with next-generation 3D caching technology, is set to deliver a remarkable boost in both frequency and performance. This new offering is poised to challenge the recently launched Intel Core Ultra 200S series effectively.

Recent leaks suggest that the Ryzen 7 9800X3D will boast a substantial total cache of 104MB, comprising 8MB of L2 cache, 32MB of native L3 cache, and 64MB of 3D cache, mirroring the cache configuration of its predecessor.

The base clock frequency is an impressive 4.7GHz — a significant 500MHz increase over the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, surpassing the 3.9-4.4GHz range typical of the standard Ryzen 9000 series.

The maximum boost frequency is confirmed at 5.2GHz. While this is slightly lower than the standard 5.4-5.7GHz, it offers extensive overclocking potential, reportedly reaching up to 5.7GHz.

The processor natively supports DDR5-6000 memory, with potential overclocking capabilities exceeding 8000+MHz.

The thermal design power (TDP) remains consistent at 120W compared to the previous generation, whereas the Ryzen 7 9700X starts at 65W and can be pushed to 105W.

In performance terms, official claims indicate an average game performance increase of about 8% compared to the previous generation, and a substantial gain of about 15% in multi-threaded task performance.

Gaming Performance Boost

In GeekBench 6 benchmark tests, the Ryze 7 9800X3D impresses with single-core scores around 3,300 and multi-core scores surpassing 18,000.

Compared to its predecessor, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, the improvements are significant, with approximately 22% enhancements in both single-core and multi-core tasks.
