AMD has officially announced the completion of its acquisition of Silo AI, Europe's largest private AI lab.

The transaction, valued at approximately $665 million, has been fully settled in cash by AMD.

This marks the most significant European merger involving a private AI innovation company since Google's 2014 acquisition of the U.K.-based DeepMind for around £400 million.

Silo AI will become part of AMD’s Artificial Intelligence Group (AIG), which is led by AMD Senior Vice President Vamsi Boppana.

AMD stated that the acquisition of Silo AI underscores its commitment to delivering end-to-end AI solutions based on open standards and highlights its strong partnerships within the global AI ecosystem.

Headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, with operations across Europe and the United States, Silo AI brings to AMD a world-class team of AI scientists and engineers. They offer cutting-edge AI models, platforms, and solutions, with notable open-source large-language models such as Poro and Viking. Silo AI also boasts a robust client list, including major enterprises like Allianz Life, Philips, Rolls-Royce, and Unilever.

In the past year, AMD has invested over $125 million in more than a dozen AI companies, including acquiring Mipsology and Nod.ai.
