Intel has recently introduced the Core Ultra 200 series of desktop processors, codenamed "Arrow Lake-S," along with the Z890 motherboard. The first five products with the "K" and "KF" suffixes are set to be available on October 24th, each featuring a TDP of 125W. Additionally, early next year, Intel plans to launch the Core Ultra 200S non-K series, which will have TDPs of 65W and 35W.

Recently, ASRock has uploaded the memory QVL for Z890 Taichi motherboards on its official website, becoming one of the few vendors to provide some insights into the Core Ultra 200S non-K series. It reveals that the Core Ultra 200S non-K series supports memory speeds of up to 7200MT/s, whereas the Core Ultra 200K series supports speeds up to 9066MT/s, highlighting a significant difference between the two.

ASRock does not specify the exact reason for this disparity. However, it notes that EXPO/XMP profile support may vary based on the system configuration, memory module, and motherboard model differences. For a comprehensive list of supported options, users are encouraged to refer to the Memory QVL.

Intel has highlighted the desktop processor's support for new memory overclocking capabilities in their latest product releases. It's common for vendors to support very high frequencies, although anything surpassing the JEDEC standard of 6400MT/s is deemed overclocking. Given that the Z890 Taichi motherboard caters to the high-end market, it remains unclear whether ASRock's significant variance in memory frequency support between the non-K and K/KF series is intentional.
