One-Notebook has unveiled its latest addition to the external graphics card market, the OneXGPU 2, which features the AMD RX 7800M. This card utilizes the Navi 32 GPU core and boasts impressive specifications, including 3840 stream processors and 192-bit 12GB GDDR6 memory. These improvements mark a significant upgrade in performance over the previous RX 7600M XT model.
The One-Notebook offers users two connectivity options: a USB4 interface with a bandwidth of 40Gbps, and an OCuLink interface that provides a significantly higher bandwidth of 64Gbps operating at PCIe 4.0 x4.
HotHardware conducted performance tests to compare the RX 7800M's capabilities across these interfaces, exploring varying power configurations of 120W and 180W.
The testing revealed that the OCuLink interface consistently outperforms USB4, achieving an average of 20% increased performance at 120W and 28% at the 180W power level.
Despite these impressive performance metrics, the RX 7800M remains the sole product in this lineup, and it comes with a hefty price tag, with costs soaring up to $999.
Looking forward, the industry eagerly anticipates the widespread adoption of Thunderbolt 5 technology with its 80Gbps bandwidth, which promises better alignment with the demands of high-end GPUs.
