According to a report by South Korean media outlet ZDNet Korea, Chinese DRAM chip maker Changxin Storage (CXMT) has successfully mass-produced DDR5 memory chips. Several DRAM module manufacturers have begun offering modules based on these DDR5 chips, indicating that Changxin Storage is rapidly closing the gap with leading DRAM manufacturers.

Currently, only a few major DRAM producers, such as Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron, are known to produce DDR5 chips. A source within the semiconductor industry revealed, "From what I've gathered, Changxin Storage has recently started manufacturing DDR5 and is currently engaging with customers. The reported yield rate stands at approximately 80%." Given that the yield rates of Korean companies range from 80% to 90%, this reflects a commendable advancement in mass production technology.

Reports suggest that Chinese storage module brands, including King Bank and Gloway, have started selling 32GB DDR5 DRAM modules labeled as "domestic DDR5" through various online platforms. Although the exact source of these DDR5 chips isn't specified, industry speculation points to Changxin Storage as the manufacturer.

In a written interview with ZDNet Korea, Dr. Jeongdong Choi of TechInsights noted, "We plan to analyze these DDR5 chips soon and closely observe their market impact." He added, "While Changxin Storage hasn't officially announced its DDR5 development plans, I am aware that DDR5 chips are being developed using the G3 process with a 17.5 nm linewidth. DDR4 was commercialized using the G1 process (22nm), and LPDDR4X is produced based on both G1 and G3."

On November 28, 2023, Changxin Storage announced through its official website the release of its LPDDR5 series of DRAM products, marking its entry into the mobile market. These products have successfully undergone compatibility testing with domestic smartphone brands like Xiaomi and Transcend.

Data indicate that Changxin Storage, established in 2016, has evolved into China's largest DRAM manufacturer. Its previous main offerings were 19nm process DDR4/LPDDR4/LPDDR4X chips, which have been widely adopted by numerous storage brand manufacturers.
