According to the latest report released by Runto Technology (RUNTO), laptop screen refresh rates are witnessing a significant shift towards higher frequencies.
The report highlights that a refresh rate of 165Hz has surpassed the traditional 60Hz, emerging as the most mainstream refresh rate standard in the overall online market.
In detail, the market share for laptops boasting a 165Hz refresh rate reached 29% in the third quarter of 2024, whereas the share for 60Hz laptops fell to 24%.
When we compare these numbers to last year's data, a marked shift in the market landscape becomes evident. At that point, laptops with a 165Hz refresh rate held a mere 23% share, while those with a 60Hz refresh rate commanded a 29% share.
Aside from the shift between 165Hz and 60Hz, the market share for other refresh rates has remained relatively stable. Laptops with a 90Hz refresh rate hold an 8% share, while those with a 120Hz refresh rate have a 20% share. Additionally, laptops with a 144Hz refresh rate have a 10% share, and those with refresh rates of 240Hz and above have a 9% share.
These statistics indicate that, although the appeal of high refresh rate screens is growing, there remains a broad spectrum of needs and choices within the market.
