While AMD's Zen5 is advancing in multiple directions, a notable addition has emerged within the Zen4 family—the EPYC Embedded 8004 series targeted specifically at the embedded market. This series, akin to the standard EPYC 8004 series, is based on the Zen4c architecture.
Previously, the Zen EPYC lineup included the EPYC 9004 series (designed for general-purpose high-performance computing), EPYC 97x4 series (catered towards cloud computing), EPYC 9004X series (featuring 3D caching for ultra-high performance computing), EPYC Embedded 9004 series (intended for embedded applications), EPYC 8004 series (suitable for edge computing), and the EPYC 4004 series (targeting small and medium-sized businesses - SMB).
The core architecture and specifications of the EPYC Embedded 8004 series remain largely unchanged. It continues to utilize the SP6 package interface, comprising four CCDs, two CCXs per CCD, with each CCX housing eight cores paired with 16MB of L3 cache. The series supports six channels of DDR5-4800 RAM and offers 96 PCIe 5.0 lanes.
The EPYC Embedded 8004 lineup includes six specific models, aligning primarily with the EPYC 8004P series' standard power configurations, though it exempts any low-power EPYC 8004PN series models and refines certain specifications across models:
