AMD Ryzen 9000 DDR5 Memory Frequency Soars: Reaches 8000MHz with All Four Slots Occupied

AMD's Ryzen 9000 series processors, in addition to upgrading the process and CPU architecture, also feature an improved memory controller. While the enhancement isn't drastic, it does raise memory frequencies, particularly when coupled with the new X870E and X870 motherboards. The EXPO memory's automatic overclocking capability is also notably stronger.

The Ryzen 9000 series natively supports DDR5-6000 memory frequency and can achieve up to DDR5-6400 with a 1:1 crossover frequency.

For mainstream and gaming users, the optimal memory frequency remains DDR5-5600, similar to the Ryzen 7000 series.

If higher memory frequencies and bandwidth are required, users can opt for the 1:2 split ratio. This allows frequencies to reach up to 8000MHz with all four memory sticks installed and over 9000MHz with just two sticks.

As mentioned previously, achieving exceptionally high frequencies is challenging for desktop processor memory controllers, such as those in the Rui Long 7000/9000 series, due to their relatively average quality and the chiplet multi-chip design.

In contrast, the Ryzen 8000G series, derived from single-chip mobile processors, boasts a superior memory controller and can achieve higher frequencies. All AMD platform DDR5 memory frequencies are realized with the Ryzen 8000G series.
