AMD's next-generation Zen5 mobile platform has already been announced with Strix Point, also known as the Ryzen AI HX 300 series. Early next year, AMD will release the more mainstream and economical Krackan, as well as the top-tier Strix Halo, which many gamers are eagerly anticipating due to its groundbreaking specifications.

According to recent leaks, the Strix Halo is tentatively named the Ryzen AI Max 300 series, featuring three planned models:

The flagship model, Ryzen AI Max+ 395 will be equipped with up to 16 Zen5 CPU cores (potentially 8 Zen5 and 8 Zen5c) and 40 RDNA3.5 GPU cores.

The sub-flagship model, Ryzen AI Max 390, will reduce the CPU cores to 12 (possibly 4+8) while maintaining 40 GPU cores.

Further down the line, the Ryzen AI Max 385 will feature 8 CPU cores (perhaps 4+4) and 32 GPU cores.

There is no further information available on the Neural Processing Unit (NPU), except that it will also be a next-generation XDNA 2 model, similar to the Strix Point, and is estimated to deliver a maximum performance of around 50 TOPS.

In comparison, Strix Point offers up to 12 CPU cores and 16 GPU cores, placing it in a different league.

Previous rumors have suggested that the integrated graphics performance of the Strix Halo could rival that of the mobile RTX 4060 or even the RTX 4070, which is astonishing.

Recent evidence supports this claim: The Strix Halo can allocate up to 96GB of memory as graphics memory for integrated display!

Of course, most laptops won't have that much RAM—with 64GB being a more realistic ceiling—but this demonstrates that AMD is serious about the Strix Halo's capabilities. It could potentially replace many of the RTX 4060-equipped gaming laptops currently on the market and pose a challenge to the next-generation RTX 50 series.

Additionally, the large memory allocation means that the Strix Halo is also ideal for AI tasks.
