M4 Pro Mac Mini to Drop USB-A Ports in Favor of Five USB-C Ports

According to Mark Gurman's latest revelations, Apple's upcoming Mac mini with the M4 Pro chip will no longer offer USB-A ports but will instead be exclusively USB-C.

The new Mac mini is expected to feature five USB-C ports—three on the back and two on the front—reminiscent of the Mac Studio's design.

In addition to the added USB-C ports, the new Mac mini will retain its Ethernet, HDMI, and 3.5mm audio ports.

Currently, the Mac mini on the market includes two USB-C ports and two USB-A ports in the M2 chip-powered version, while the M2 Pro version offers four USB-C ports and two USB-A ports.

This shift signifies Apple's effort to push users towards a USB-C ecosystem, a strategy they've also employed with their laptops and iPads in recent years.

Gurman also disclosed that the new Mac mini will be almost as compact as the Apple TV, possibly slightly taller than the current model but more compact overall.

The new Mac mini is anticipated to be released later this year, marking the first significant design update to the product since its debut in 2010.
